Ice Kilometre

The ice Kilometre is a distance recognised by IISA only if swum at an approved IISA event.

It has the same clothing rules as the Ice Mile so only a swimming costume, normal silicone swimming hat and goggles may be worn ( nose clips and ear plugs are optional ).

There are many different IISA events around the globe, some are open water others are in a swimming pool framework built into an open area of water and some may even be cut out of a frozen lake where the ice is inches thick.

Because of the variance in the style of course only a kilometre swum in a swimming pool framework will qualify for a World Record attempt but all other Ice kilometres are recognised and contained in a log on the swimmer's bio information page on the IISA website.
